Beyond the reef of Farikede, in the far south, a plateau at around 40–50 metres drops away into water hundreds of metres deep. Up- and down-currents are common, which makes it the most demanding dive around the island.
This is where the open ocean comes closest: oceanic manta rays, thresher, tiger and hammerhead sharks, tuna and barracuda can all pass by. It is only planned for experienced divers with deep-diving certification.
